The Alfa Romeo 8C Competizione was last produced in 2010, but in June Alfa Romeo announced it is going to start manufacturing a new supercar as an entry into the ultra-high-end luxury vehicle market. Recently, the Italian automaker made clear that it plans to bring back the Alfa Romeo 8C as well as many other new Alfa Romeo models.
Alfa Romeo 8C news reports have shown that the revival of the luxury car is going to bring about a few surprises. And it is a bold move on the part of the outgoing CEO who is looking to make the Alfa Romeo line a global force before he departs. The new Alfa Romeo 8C will feature a carbon-fiber monocoque chassis with a twin-turbocharged engine. With more than 700 horsepower the 8C will be able to go from 0-62 mph in a little less than 3 seconds. The 8C supercar, along with the other six new models will offer Level 2 and Level 3 autonomy. The actual use of the self-driving technology will vary depending on the car’s market.
The new supercars from Alfa Romeo will not be hitting showroom floors anytime soon. According to Alfa Romeo, the pitch was all part of the car manufacturer’s five-year plan for Italian investors. It is there goal to release seven new models by 2022. Alfa Romeo is hoping that by 2022 the new supercar will make up at least 5% of its global sales. Alfa Romeo knows that their future depends on them staying true to the sports car roots. If they stay true to their roots they can really stand out in any segment.
